Great Victorian Rail Trail Cycle Tours

Stretching 134km, the Great Victorian Rail Trail is Australia’s longest continuous rail trail. Located just under an hour away from the Victorian capital city of Melbourne, the Great Victorian Rail Trail spans from Tallarook, through Trawool, Yea to Molesworth and Yarck to Cathkin and Alexandra.

The Great Victorian Rail Trail will take cyclists through beautiful rural landscapes along the heritage classified Goulburn River and passes through the Trawool Valley, classified by the National Trust for its scenic beauty. The rail trail also meanders through farmland, crossing over Lake Eildon at the Brankeet Arm, on its way to the Victorian High Country, Mt Buller and neighbouring Mt Stirling.

Lovers of history will find this trail particularly appealing. Explore the old Alexandra Station with its Timber Tramway and Museum or marvel at the early engineering works that helped create Victoria’s longest rail trail tunnel, the 201m Cheviot Tunnel.

Towns and villages along the way offer unique experiences and places to explore, including historic landmarks and buildings, art galleries, museums, food and wine, shopping and markets.

There’s also plenty of Australian wildlife. Watch out for echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos and native birds in their natural surroundings.

Come ride the Great Victorian Rail Trail on a self guided cycling trip with us.
