The McLaren Vale is located just 45 minutes from Adelaide and is a haven for food and wine lovers alike. It’s also perfect to discover by bike. This tour starts in the heart of Adelaide, and over three days you will cycle alongside rivers, coastline and quiet country backroads before returning through the Adelaide Hills and Belair National Park.

You’ll spend two nights in McLaren Vale and have the chance to taste some delicious wines that the area is renown for. With your luggage transferred, logistics sorted and accommodation booked, all you need to do is pedal your bike and enjoy each day.

Itinerary

This morning you will meet with our local partner for the bike handover in Adelaide. You will begin cycling beside Adelaide Oval and will follow the River Torrens Linear Park Trail to the coast. Continue south along scenic beachfront paths before joining the Coast to Vines Rail Trail cycling into wine country. You'll arrive into McLaren Vale mid-afternoon, check into your hotel and then you're free to explore the local restaurants and wine bars around town. Overnight in McLaren Vale.

The cycling today is flexible, meaning you can cycle as much or as little as you like. Enjoy a relaxed morning before heading out on the Shiraz Trail where you can visit cellar doors, roll through Wilunga, or extend the day into the Onkaparinga Gorge for more adventure. A wine tasting experience is included today. Overnight: McLaren Vale

Today you will leave wine country, with the route ascending gently towards the Adelaide Hills. You will cycle via quite backroads and through rolling countryside. We recommend stopping in Clarendon for a bakery lunch before continuing throuhg forested hills to Belair and your finish at the bike shed. From here you will be transferred back to your preferred Adelaide CBD location where the trip will conclude.

You will need to make your own way to the bike shed, located just outside of Adelaide in Belair.

Yes. You will between 40 to 60km each day. Although these are not huge distances allowing for numerous breaks and sight seeing during the day a reasonable level of competency and ability would still be required.
