This morning it is time to start our cycling adventure. The ride starts on quiet country roads before you arrive at Bowser, and then meanders through farmlands and scenic hill views, past Londrigan and Tarrawingee Stations, before arriving at Everton Station. These stations are nice shaded spots where you can take a break and fill up your water bottles. Everton township is only a short distance on. The Everton Hotel is a great spot for lunch, where you can taste the local produce and enjoy a cleansing ale or wine. After lunch, rejoin the Beechworth-Everton Rail Trail, for the uphill climb to Beechworth. While the path is relatively straight, you do need to be prepared to climb over 300m over 16km. You will pass through beautiful forests en route to Beechworth which provide shade on a hot day. Overnight in Beechworth. Cycling distance: 43km, ascent: 478m, descent: 83m

Grading

Introductory to Moderate
4

This self guided trip involves 3 days of cycling on a sealed trail surface with mostly gentle ascents and descents. Although the cycle from Everton to Beechworth does involve a hill that climbs over 300m, over 16km which pushes the grading for this cycle to moderate. This hill is achievable, but you do need to be prepared for a long uphill. The first two days of cycling are around 43km and the final day is 31km. Being a self guided trip you determine the pace and schedule. You will need to be in good health and be a confident and capable cyclist. Be prepared for potential variable weather conditions which can also add to the timing and comfort of a trip, for example riding into a head wind will take more effort than when the wind is behind you. If you prefer to avoid this big hill up to Beechworth we have two different trips that start in Beechworth - Murray to the Mountains Downhill Edition and Murray to the Mountains Short Break. These can be viewed on our website or ask our staff for details.
